[BŌSŌZOKU]. チャンプロード  [Champ Road], January 1992.
Tokyo: Kasakura Publishing, 1992

B5判 / large 8vo (255 x 180 mm). 160 pp. Black-and-white and color illustrations; leaves a bit toned. Saddle-stapled in photographic wraps; a bit rubbed, closed tears at staples. Good.

January 1992 issue of Champ Road, which went on to become the last periodical focused on bōsōzoku. First published in 1987, the magazine ran until 2016 and was known as a “bad boy bible.”

A regularly issued, dependable glimpse into the world of these yankii bikers, Champ Road featured little editorial content of its own, in favor of primarily showcasing the self-reported experiences of bōsōzoku members themselves, who would submit to the magazine. As such, it offered a uniquely raw, unfiltered look at the outlaw-adjacent world of this subculture.
