Unlike the other magazines of the period, \u003cem\u003eTeens Road\u003c\/em\u003e emphasized the fashion and lifestyle of these “runaway girls,” along with motorcycle \u0026amp; car tuning, custom autobody work, and the goings-on of various groups. It was the first of its kind to focus on these \u003cem\u003esukeban\u003c\/em\u003e (’girl delinquent’) clans and, at its peak, had a readership five times the recorded number of members of such clubs.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eYankii\u003c\/em\u003e, a general term for a group of aesthetically linked ‘delinquent’ subcultures, was originally born out of the influence of post-war American rock and counterculture. With the rise of \u003cem\u003ebōsōzoku\u003c\/em\u003e style — defined by \u003cem\u003etokkō-fuku\u003c\/em\u003e jackets and their spectacular, outlandish custom modifications — out of the earlier \u003cem\u003ekaminari-zoku\u003c\/em\u003e gangs, this \u003cem\u003eyankii\u003c\/em\u003e world began to take on its own uniquely wild aesthetics.
