[BŌSŌZOKU]. チャンプロード [Champ Road], March 2001.
Tokyo: Kasakura Publishing, 2001

B5判 / large 8vo (255 x 180 mm). 240 pp. Profusely illustrated in color and black-and-white; text leaves toned at margins. Saddle-stapled in photographic wraps; a bit rubbed. Very good.

March 2001 issue of Champ Road, which went on to become the last periodical focused on bōsōzoku. First published in 1987, the magazine ran until 2016 and was known as a “bad boy bible.”

A regularly issued, dependable glimpse into the world of these yankii bikers, Champ Road featured little editorial content of its own, in favor of primarily showcasing the self-reported experiences of bōsōzoku members themselves, who would submit to the magazine. As such, it offered a uniquely raw, unfiltered look at the outlaw-adjacent world of this subculture.
