Handbill for a performance by ART, the Only Band in the World. A fleeting post-punk act, the band was formed in 1978 by Mykel Board and Kimberly Davis (who would later join the legendary Pulsallama). 

While their early shows consisted of 30 minutes of screaming over a metronome, the ranks of the band eventually expanded to including the likes of Lori Montoya (also of Pulsullama), and others. They released one studio LP in their brief stint: The Only Record in the World. That record featured instructions for listening, with those for the B-side notably being to “Unplug (or turn down) your right speaker and play the songs on the left channel. Then unplug (or turn down) your left speaker to hear the stuff on the right channel. Hard? One must make sacrifices for ART.”

Ann Magnuson, also credited on the LP, ran Club 57 — the crucible of East Village counterculture.
