COOPER, Dennis. My Mark.
Los Angeles: Sherwood Press, 1982
Saddle-stapled (213 x 150 mm). [26] pp. Signed on the double-page title; barely perceptible toning, stray spot. In photographic wraps. Near fine.
FIRST EDITION, association copy, signed on the title-page. This is of the 474 unsigned and unlettered copies, thus lacking the insert, but was nonetheless signed by Cooper in presentation to his close friend Ira Silverberg, who would later become his literary agent.
Cooper’s sixth chapbook, this was only his second published work of fiction (preceded by “Antoine Monnier” four years earlier). “My Mark” follows the story of a fictional Mark Lewis, though the character was based on Cooper’s real-life obsession with a man of the same name, whom he had met at a poetry reading.
This work is the model for the author’s acclaimed George Miles cycle, the first volume of which would be published seven years later. The publisher, Sherwood Press, was edited by Cooper’s close friend, the poet David Trinidad.
Scarce.
