DARLING, Candy. My Face for the World to See.
Honolulu: Hardy Marks Publications, 1997

8vo (226 x 150 mm). 127, [128] pp. Frontispiece and numerous photographic illustrations. Pink vinyl padded boards lettered and decorated in gilt, locking diary clasp, 2 keys on pink string, with the publisher’s original plastic with barcode label; spine and extremities sunned as usual, minor stray soiling, two indents from latch to first two leaves, plastic torn and worn. Very good.

FIRST EDITION. The posthumous publication of Warhol superstar Candy Darling’s journals, accompanied by numerous illustrations reproducing her manuscript journals, drawings, and photographs. The volume further includes introductions by Mary Harron (director of “I Shot Andy Warhol”), and Darling’s roommates Jeremiah Newton and Francesca Passalacqua.

A moving, intimate portrait of this film legend and trans icon, who died from lymphoma at only 29 years old.

PROVENANCE: Ira Silverberg
