Invitation to Ira Silverberg’s 40th birthday party, held at ESTATE, formerly the legendary Limelight. Housed in a former Gothic Revival church at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 20th Street, the Limelight opened its doors in 1983 and quickly ascended to the throne as the Club-Kid Capital. Silverberg worked at New York’s most infamous, storied, and notorious club, as he details here on the invitation: “A long time ago, to supplement my entry level publishing wages, I worked as the doorman of the ‘VIP Room’ at the Limelight. Now, nearly twenty years later, they’ve asked me back to celebrate my fortieth birthday, and to help raise funds for the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses.”
